2008 Metal of Honor
Certain things are important to those of you installing metal roofing. If it’s important to you, it’s important to us — and your suppliers.

A metal roofer installs products the customer expects to provide a long service life. The metal roofer delivers that promise to customers because the metal roofer relies on the promises of suppliers. Reliability is important.

Whether the roofing product is standing seam, shingle, shake and tile facsimiles or even through-fastened panels, metal roofers are responsible for the world’s best, and most personal, roofs. Personal touch is important.

Consumers expect premium products and to have them installed correctly. Installers, in turn, seek out the best products, service and price from their suppliers. So while each metal roof is the result of individualized installation and attention to detail, none of it could happen without manufacturers and suppliers who provide quality products, excellent service and dependable delivery at competitive prices. Thankfully, as metal roofers continue their quest to gobble up market share, they have no shortage of manufacturing partners to help them along the way.

The Metal of Honor program was created to allow the metal roofing installers an opportunity to honor those manufacturers.

At the 2007 METALCON event in Las Vegas, Metal Roofing Magazine handed out ballots to attendees and encouraged them to vote for their favorite metal roofing industry suppliers. We then included ballots in our December 2007-January 2008 issue. More than 240 companies were nominated by voters, and the top 10 percent of vote recipients — 24 companies in all — comprise the fourth class of Metal of Honor honorees, including 12 four-time winners.

The winners range from growing family-owned firms to international giants. While most of the winners sell metal roofing panels, shingles or coil, the group covers roll formers, paint suppliers and fastener makers.
All have one thing in common: fierce loyalty from their customers.

More and more, metal roofing products are being curved, trimmed, tapered and angled to meet almost whimsical designs. Architects and specifiers are taking advantage of the versatility of metal to provide an aesthetic prowess that matches its already famous durability and practicality. In the "Current" issue, check out several projects that tested metal's ability to be as beautiful as it is durable.

Natural Metals can supply a unique look as well - and are specified for many historic projects. This issue also features several projects highlighting the "Classic Look of Metal."
